About the event

Join Singing for Health Network Ambassador Sophie Garner for member informal discussions and sharing.

Working professionally in Singing for Health can be isolating, but at the same time we're often surrounded by a complex system of other agencies and stakeholders. How can we make collaboration work for us so that we can build our practice and broaden and deepen the impact of our work?

This session is for professionals working across research, music and health sectors who want to develop their practice and find new opportunities in Singing for Health. Feel free to come to the session with:

  • Your examples of successful collaborations
  • Ideas for new collaborations
  • Questions to ask of Sophie and others in the group

Sophie Garner is a professional singer, vocal coach and wellbeing music specialist. In 2020 she became a published author of 'The Creative Songwriting Journal' and 'If you can't say it sing it!' All Sophie's work is focused on improving mental health and wellbeing through singing and creative songwriting. She teaches within a wide range of community sectors: Schools, SEND, young carers, dementia units and brain neurology units. She has a particular interest in brain injury (her MA research was carried out in an ABI unit) and works with a group on a weekly basis for the charity Headway.
